About
Chatt Hills Community is a website for sharing community news, information, and stories for friends and neighbors of the city of Chattahoochee Hills, GA. It is run by community volunteers and written by citizen reporters. Information, photos, and content on this website may be freely shared, unless otherwise stated.
Our mission is to keep our community connected and engaged by freely sharing information. To facilitate that goal, we offer a news blog for current updates, a monthly newsletter for citywide news, events, and human interest stories; and community forums -- a free space for residents who need to share information about a specific initiative.

History
In 2006, residents of unincorporated Fulton County Georgia began a grassroots effort to explore the viability of incorporating a city. A communications committee was formed and it created a Google Group -- Chatt Hills Community -- to disseminate information.
On June 19, 2007, nearly 50 percent of the 1,381 eligible voters cast their ballots in the referendum vote to incorporate the city of Chattahoochee Hill Country, later renamed Chattahoochee Hills, and nick-named Chatt Hills (See Civic History).
In 2008, the Chatt Hills Civic Association formed and continued to use the Chatt Hills Community Google Group to disseminate information and share its Weekly Reader newsletter publication. The Weekly Reader was active for many years, but eventually was reduced to a monthly publication once the Civic Association folded.
For the past several years, a volunteer has continued the tradition of providing community information by disseminating community information on the Chatt Hills Community Google Group, and sending newsletters from time to time.
In December 2015, after learning that a very small percentage of residents turned out to vote, Laurie Searle offered to retool the Chatt Hills Community News in an attempt to connect and engage the community. The result is this Website and the updated Chatt Hills Community Google Group which currently has more than 530 subscribers.

Site Administrator
My name is Laurie Searle. I am the administrator of the Chatt Hills Community website and Google Group.
I moved to the Rico Community in Chatt Hills in 1997 with my husband Sam. Like all of my neighbors, I have a passion for this community and share a common vision for preserving its rural charter and protecting its future.
I have degrees in journalism and technical communications; however, I have never worked in the field of journalism. I am currently employed as a proposal manager for an international engineering firm that designs and builds processing equipment for the vegetable oil, biofuel, and renewable fuel industries. However my passion is sharing the story about the incredible city of Chatt Hills and its awesome residents.
